Past visions brought to life…

  • Commissions

This is a delightful opportunity to own an original work of art by Atelier Sohana that is created to foster a deeply personal and meaningful connection with you.

Whether it's a playful depiction of koi fish swimming in a tranquil pond or a blooming spring garden that doubles as your wedding welcome sign, every aspect of the painting will meticulously cared for. From colour palettes to composition, every detail will come together to reflect your unique personality and style, which I would be honoured to bring to life.

Here’s the process you can expect when commissioning a special piece:

Step 1. Your vision

Let’s talk about what you have in mind. This can be as general as “I like this red painting of yours but I think I’d prefer it in blue” or as specific as “I’d prefer it in a navy & emerald colour scheme, with bronze detailing, no birds and a less dense design” - whatever best describes your vision! Feel free to also share with me any inspirations you may have.

Step 2. Size and Price

Next, we determine the size of the painting. Is there a space in your home where you’d like to feature the piece? I can accommodate most sizes and can help you determine which size would be best for you and what canvas type (stretched vs. gallery). We’ll use your vision and the scale of the painting to determine the price of the piece as well as a rough estimate of the shipping costs. Once we’re aligned, will send over a contract for you to sign and will collect 50% of the final amount.

Step 3. Sketch Approval

I’ll then start on creating a digital sketch over the next few days that gives a preview of the composition. The first iteration is a rough sketch to mainly show the colour scheme and design. You’re welcome to give feedback and request alterations until we’re both aligned at the final version before I start on my painting.

Step 4. Creating

Painting time! The timeline for completion will depend on a few factors such as the complexity and scale of the work, if I have multiple ongoing commissions and if you have any deadlines yourself. Typically, most paintings require an average of 3+ months, varying according to the size and complexity. Should there be any changes along the way, I will communicate that with you ahead of time.

Step 6. Delivery

Once I finalize the shipping costs, I will add that amount to the remainder of your invoice and then send the painting on its journey! I mostly ship within Canada. I also accept US and international commissions however please note there are additional costs associated due to increased logistics (eg. customs & duties). You will have all tracking details and can add shipping insurance if you’d like.

Step 5. The Process

Depending on your preference, I’m happy to send you photos every few weeks as I complete your painting. This way, you’ll be there with me along the way as I create it. OR you can simply be surprised at the very end - that’s okay too!
